The prompt for round 4 is curves.
I watched some free video lessons from Jo at The Crafty Nomad on porthole applique. Then I made some heart shaped reverse applique mug rugs.
There was an option for round portholes so I made a block with round shapes.

I used the floral fabric from round #3 for the centers. Now the quilt fabric focus has changed.
I'm thinking of putting the blocks on point like this-

Now my bold colors are clashing with the pastels. Oh, my.
Just a peak at the mug rugs.

The ones with red striped binding have been given to my physical therapy team.

This is my favorite one. French chat at Notre Dame.

Preparation steps for the portholes.

Final mug rug.
Thanks for visiting.
SAHRR folks, sorry for the side trip.
Happy Sewing!

Something so fun about porthole blocks, and good to add your beautiful blocks to your SAHRR project. I had the same problem of clashing colors/value/themes but hopefully by adding more, you'll be able to balance everything. Good luck!
I really like your porthole blocks. You may be able to mix the colourful fabric with pastel fabric to make them play together :-) Your mug rugs are so cute!
I really love that the prompt this week also evolved into the lovely mug rugs for you. Putting your blocks on point looks like a great idea to me!
