SAHRR #6 Quilter's Choice
This round was the quilter's choice of block. I made a framed suare - not the same as a square in a square. I made two and put each one in a setting triangle. I'm putting my blocks on point and so setting triangles are needed. I made two more hour glass blocks because the original ones from round #1 clashed with the pastels in the later blocks. The hour glass blocks were also made into setting triangles. I redid the round #2 double spinning wheels but will share that at the f

SAHRR #5
I made a two color block for round 5. The prompt was use two colors and white was an optional addition. I used teal and dark fuschia with white to make nine-patch blocks. The finished size is 12 inches like all the other blocks I'm making. These four blocks go together fairly well. I plan to put the blocks on point. The color of the blocks from rounds #2 and #3 are clashing to me. I may make them in softer colors. I love the spin of the blue, green and yellow block. Got to hu

SAHRR #4
The prompt for round 4 is curves. I watched some free video lessons from Jo at The Crafty Nomad on porthole applique. Then I made some heart shaped reverse applique mug rugs. There was an option for round portholes so I made a block with round shapes. I used the floral fabric from round #3 for the centers. Now the quilt fabric focus has changed. I'm thinking of putting the blocks on point like this- Now my bold colors are clashing with the pastels. Oh, my. Just a peak at the

Round 3 Stay at Home Round Robin
Round 3's prompt is 'Animal". I chose 'Cat and Mice' from Quilters Cache for my block. I made a sketch on grid paper and made a plan for cutting my fabric. I used two methods for making the half-square triangles. Since this is a blog sharing the true story of my sewing I have to admit that I counted wrong. I cut and sewed and had only half of the block. Oops! Now I had a challenege. I had lots of the darker fabric but only enough of the lighter fabric to make 8 more half-squa

Midnight Garden Flowers
Still staying home since the roads are icy. I had time to work on some flowers for my MIdnight Garden quilt. This is the 18 inch daffodil. I made it sort of scrappy. We received lots of small bits in our original fabric bundle. So I decided to mix the bits when I cut the pieces for this flower. There are three yellows and an orange instead of one yellow. Today I worked on the lilies of the valley. This time the browns are mixed bits. All the sections are made. The last step i

Dresses for Miss A
We have been snowed in for a week. Fortunately we have had power in my part of the icy west Tennessee world. Just before everything froze Jessie and Ava chose four patterns and the fabrics for each one. I have been happily sewing all week. Below are some in progress shots and a couple of finishes. Kaffe fabric made into Violet Field Threads' Maude without a collar or sleeves. White picque cut on the bias trims the neck, arm, and hem. VFT's Elowen in progress. This is the back

Round 2 of Stay at home round robin
Here is Double Spin Wheels from Quilter's Cache. Easy to sew it uses half square triangles and squares. I made the yellow and blue half squares four-at-a-time. The blue and green half squares were made two-at-a-time. I trimmed them down to 3.5 inches. Here are the blocks I have made so far. Waiting for the next prompt. Thanks for interesting prompt. If you are wondering, I have started a new blog. My old blog would not allow me to upload photos. I tried for days and followed
